What is Noteworthy About the 2026 High School Graduation Exam Papers?
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the content of the exam papers falls within the high school education curriculum, primarily belonging to 12th-grade knowledge, alongside some questions from the 10th and 11th-grade curricula. The exam is structured based on a matrix consisting of cognitive levels: knowing, understanding, and applying, continuing the orientation towards assessing learners’ capacities and qualities.
Similar to 2025, this year’s exam papers still maintain an appropriate differentiation rate, serving both the purpose of high school graduation assessment and acting as an important reference base for university admissions. Several questions require candidates to apply knowledge to solve practical real-world problems, thereby evaluating learners’ reasoning, analytical, and application abilities.
For multiple-choice exam subjects, the papers are structured according to the framework announced by the Ministry of Education and Training in the reference exam, including formats: multiple-choice questions, true/false questions, and short-answer questions. The scores among questions are not allocated equally but carry different point values depending on each question format.
Literature is the only subject tested in an essay format. The exam continues to utilize materials outside of textbooks to evaluate candidates’ reading comprehension, perception, reasoning, expression, and knowledge application.
