No longer relying entirely on high school graduation exam scores, many universities today, such as NTTU, are expanding their admission methods to create more opportunities for candidates in the 2026 enrollment season.
When students need more than just one opportunity to enter university
Faced with the pressure of university entrance competition and the rapid changes in the labor market, many students nowadays pay more attention to majors and admission methods that match their own capabilities. Therefore, diversifying admission methods is considered a solution to help candidates have more opportunities to enter university and reduce the pressure of relying on a single exam.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meritorious Teacher Nguyen Kim Hồng – President of Nguyen Tat Thanh University: “Currently, students possess different strengths, so university admission also needs to be more flexible to create favorable conditions for them to access suitable majors. In the context of a rapidly changing labor market, flexible admission methods not only reduce pressure for candidates but also create more opportunities for them to choose majors aligned with their capabilities, personal orientation, and adaptability to future career requirements.”.
In addition to expanding admission methods, NTTU is also promoting practical-oriented training, increasing professional experiences, updating new technologies, and expanding corporate connections throughout students’ learning processes. In recent years, the university has continuously enhanced a reality-associated learning environment to help students approach career requirements early on right from the lecture halls.
Besides, in 2026, Nguyen Tat Thanh University expects to implement an enrollment scholarship fund with a total value of up to 75 billion VND to support and motivate freshmen in the new enrollment season. According to provisional information, candidates who register the university code “NTT” as their first option on the system of the Ministry of Education and Training will receive a scholarship support of 12 million VND along with a foreign language learning voucher worth 5 million VND to improve their integration capabilities right from their first year of university.

NTTU increases admission options in the 2026 enrollment season
In 2026, Nguyen Tat Thanh University expects to enroll students in 57 majors across 19 fields using 5 admission methods in accordance with the Undergraduate Admission Regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, an increase of 1 method compared to 2025.
Admission based on High School Graduation Exam scores
This remains a method chosen by many candidates in the current enrollment season. Candidates use the results of the 2026 high school graduation exam based on the subject combinations corresponding to each training major to register for admission.
Admission based on high school academic transcripts (report cards) meeting 1 of the following criteria:
- Admission using the average score of the final academic results of grades 10, 11, and 12 for 3 subjects in the combination, reaching 18 points or higher on a 30-point scale;
- Admission combining the total average score of academic transcripts by combination with the high school graduation exam score or competency assessment exam score, reaching 18 points or higher;
- The Graduation score (on the provisional Graduation Certificate) is from 6.0 or higher.

Admission based on Competency Assessment results
Candidates can use the test results of the Competency Assessment exams from Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam National University – Hanoi, V-SAT, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education (or combined with high school graduation exam scores) to register for admission.
Admission based on composite academic performance score
This is a new method implemented by the University in the 2026 enrollment season, combining multiple evaluation criteria to make the admission process more comprehensive, while creating conditions for candidates to leverage their academic strengths throughout high school and in competency assessment exams.
Accordingly, the university conducts admission based on a composite academic performance score using 3 criteria: high school graduation exam scores, high school transcript scores, and competency assessment exam scores. The criteria are converted according to the formula:
Academic Performance Score = High School Graduation Exam Score × 50% + High School Transcript Score × 40% + Competency Assessment Exam Score × 10%
NTTU strengthens corporate connections, expanding a reality-associated learning environment so that students can approach career requirements early on right from the lecture halls
Direct admission and preferential admission
The university offers direct admission and preferential admission for candidates who won prizes in national excellent student competitions, national Science and Engineering competitions, ASEAN and international skill competitions; and admits international candidates who meet learning conditions or under the regimen of priority nomination.
For majors in the health sciences sector such as Medicine, Odonto-Stomatology, Pharmacy, Nursing, or Medical Laboratory Technology, the university conducts admission according to the quality assurance threshold regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Particularly for majors with talent subject combinations, NTTU considers a combination of cultural subject scores with talent exam scores organized by the university or from other universities.
In the context where university admission is increasingly geared towards a comprehensive evaluation of learner capacity, adding more admission methods is considered a step forward to help candidates have more opportunities to access suitable majors in the 2026 enrollment season.
