Upholding the pioneering and volunteer spirit for the community among medical youth, the Youth Union – Student Association of the Faculty of Medicine at Nguyen Tat Thanh University recently collaborated with the Youth Union of Gia Dong People’s Hospital, the Youth Union of Gia Dinh Ward, and VietinBank Insurance Company to organize the 2026 “Volunteer White Blouse” program in My Quy Commune, Tay Ninh Province. The program brought many practical activities aimed at health care, social security support, and paying tribute to policy beneficiary families, contributing to spreading a spirit of compassion to people in border areas.
During the program, the Youth Union – Student Association of the Faculty of Medicine at Nguyen Tat Thanh University and collaborating units organized medical examinations, health consultations, screening for hypertension and diabetes, and distributed free medicine to 200 people, including policy beneficiaries, meritorious individuals, and disadvantaged residents and children in the locality. Additionally, the delegation presented 200 gift packages of essential goods to share difficulties and encourage families to strive upward in life.

For disadvantaged students, the Youth Union – Student Association of the Faculty of Medicine at Nguyen Tat Thanh University presented “Empowering School” scholarships, including school supplies and essential goods, with the desire to encourage them to continue nurturing their dreams of going to school.

The tradition of “drinking water, remembering its source” was also spread by the youth of the Faculty of Medicine through visits and gift-giving to policy beneficiary families, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and exchanges with officers and soldiers on duty at the My Quy Commune Military Command. These simple yet warm encounters helped foster gratitude and a sense of responsibility among the younger generation toward those who have dedicated and are dedicating themselves to the country.
Additionally, union members and students joined hands to implement the project “Lighting up the Border – Winging Dreams,” helping to improve living conditions for local residents while cleaning and landscaping the areas around the memorial houses for heroic martyrs through the “Green Tribute” project, helping preserve the landscape and spreading the message of gratitude to previous generations.

Comrade Nguyen Mai Thanh Truc – Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Nguyen Tat Thanh University shared that the “Volunteer White Blouse” program is not only an activity for students to apply professional knowledge into practice but also a journey to nurture medical ethics, a sense of responsibility, and the spirit of serving the community among future physicians. Through practical experiences, students have the opportunity to better understand the hardships of the people, thereby cultivating compassion, sharing, and a sense of dedication to society.
“Particularly, implementing the program at this time holds even more significance as it heads towards the 78th anniversary of Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27, 1947 – July 27, 2026) and responds to the peak campaign of 500 days and nights searching, gathering, and identifying the remains of martyrs with missing information, contributing to educating on traditional patriotism, the principle of ‘drinking water, remembering its source,’ awakening gratitude and responsibility of the youth in preserving and promoting historical and revolutionary values of the nation,” Comrade Nguyen Mai Thanh Truc emphasized.
The 2026 Volunteer White Blouse program left many meaningful impressions not only on the residents of My Quy Commune but also on the participating students themselves. Every direct medical check-up, every conversation with locals, or every gift handed over became practical lessons on medical ethics, empathy, and professional responsibility – values that lecture halls can hardly convey completely.
For Tran Pham Ngoc Khue – a 24th-cohort student majoring in Medicine at Nguyen Tat Thanh University, each volunteer trip is an opportunity to mature in both professional expertise and awareness. Directly accompanying doctors in medical check-ups, health care, and interacting with residents helped Khue realize that the medical profession requires not only knowledge and skills but also empathy, a sense of responsibility, and a heart that knows how to share.
The experiences at the “Volunteer White Blouse” program have given Ngoc Khue and her friends more motivation to continuously study and train, step-by-step preparing themselves to become practitioners with professional competence, rich medical ethics, and always ready to dedicate themselves to community health.
Volunteer White Blouse is a social activity with profound significance, promoting the pioneering and volunteer spirit for community health. Through the program, many disadvantaged people have been helped, reducing the costs of medical examination and treatment. At the same time, the program has also brought positive efficiency, contributing together with the community to care for the health of citizens, especially those in remote and isolated areas, receiving enthusiastic support from local residents.
Aiming to contribute to society through education, training, research, and knowledge sharing, over the past 27 years, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has continuously spread its mission of serving the community, contributing to society many meaningful works and tasks through gratitude activities, caring for and nurturing individuals with meritorious services to the revolution, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, policy beneficiary families, and disadvantaged children. Furthermore, the university has also provided numerous scholarships, gifts, and desks and chairs to build community study areas. On the other hand, the youth of Uncle Ho’s university also bring the knowledge and skills they have learned to dedicate to the community through meaningful activities such as: medical check-ups for policy beneficiary families by the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Nursing; distributing free medicine to disadvantaged people by the Faculty of Pharmacy; or collaborating with hospitals to organize Mid-Autumn Festival for pediatric patients, and conducting simulated court trials to propagate the law, etc.
These efforts not only demonstrate the spirit of solidarity and sharing but also contribute to building the image of Nguyen Tat Thanh University as a pioneer in linking knowledge with community responsibility, developing together with the community. Among these, the university’s greatest goal is to build well-rounded individuals who are both politically proficient and professionally skilled with lofty living ideals, a sense of protecting national sovereignty, the country, and a love for their homeland and nation, worthy of being teachers and students of the only university named after Uncle Ho in his youth – Nguyen Tat Thanh University.
