The 2nd Red Volunteer Day of the 2025–2026 Academic Year attracted a large number of staff, lecturers, workers, and students, collecting over 500 blood units on June 8 and 9, 2026.
The program was co-organized by the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group – Trade Union – Association, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, and the Ho Chi Minh City Humanitarian Blood Donation Center.
Voluntary blood donation is a noble gesture full of humanitarian values. By giving a few minutes to share their drops of blood, each person can contribute to giving a second chance at life to patients who urgently need blood for medical treatment. It is not only a practical act of sharing but also a vivid demonstration of human compassion, social responsibility, and a beautiful spirit of living for the community.

The 2nd “Red Volunteer Day” program was organized to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Textile and Garment Trade Union (September 14, 1996 – September 14, 2026) and the 27th anniversary of the founding of Nguyen Tat Thanh University (June 5, 1999 – June 5, 2026). This is also a meaningful activity contributing to spreading the voluntary blood donation movement among the University’s staff, lecturers, workers, youth union members, and students.
Attending the program, on the side of the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group – Trade Union – Association, there were Ms. Vu Thi Thuy Duong – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Group’s Operations Headquarters; Mr. Le Tat Thang – Deputy Head of the Trade Union Affairs Department, Person in Charge of the Vietnam Textile and Garment Trade Union Office in Ho Chi Minh City; and Ms. Ngo Yen Binh – from the Vietnam Textile and Garment Trade Union Office.

On the side of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, there were Dr. Hoang Huu Dung – Vice President, Chairman of the University’s Trade Union; Ms. Nguyen Thị Thu Thao (M.A.) – Acting Head of the Student Affairs Department, Secretary of the University’s Youth Union; Mr. Cao Son Lien (M.A.) – Deputy Chief of the University Office, Member of the Executive Committee of the University’s Trade Union; along with the enthusiastic participation of a large number of lecturers, workers, and students of Nguyen Tat Thanh University.
Giving the opening and keynote speech, Mr. Le Tat Thang – Deputy Head of the Trade Union Affairs Department, Person in Charge of the Vietnam Textile and Garment Trade Union Office in Ho Chi Minh City, highly appreciated the collaborative spirit of the units in organizing the voluntary blood donation activities. He emphasized that the “Red Volunteer Day” is not only a practical activity celebrating the important milestones of the Vietnam Textile and Garment Trade Union and Nguyen Tat Thanh University but also an opportunity to spread the spirit of compassion and community responsibility among union members, workers, and students.
At the program, Dr. Hoang Huu Dung – Vice President, Chairman of the Trade Union of Nguyen Tat Thanh University stated that the University always focuses on building an educational environment attached to social responsibility, in which community service, charity, and humanitarian blood donation activities always receive active support and response from the collective staff, lecturers, workers, and students.
According to Dr. Hoang Huu Dung, participating in blood donations not only contributes to supplementing the blood source for emergencies and treatment but also helps NTTU students develop a humane lifestyle, knowing how to share and be more responsible to society.
As one of the lecturers participating in the blood donation at the program, a lecturer from Nguyen Tat Thanh University shared: “Donating blood is a very small action but carries a huge meaning. When participating, I simply think that my drops of blood can help a patient overcome a difficult time. What is precious is that at NTTU, this spirit spreads very naturally; everyone from the staff and lecturers to the students is ready to join hands for the community.”

Not only receiving a warm response from the staff, lecturers, and workers, the program also attracted a large number of NTTU students. Arriving early to register for blood donation, Tran Dang Dung, a student at Nguyen Tat Thanh University, shared: “This is the first time I have participated in a blood donation, so I was a bit nervous at first. But when the organizers guided me through and I knew that my drops of blood could help patients, I felt very happy and proud to have done something meaningful.”
Nguyen Minh Anh, a student at Nguyen Tat Thanh University, said that charity activities at NTTU give students more opportunities to cultivate themselves outside the lecture halls: “I think youth is not only about studying but also about knowing how to live responsibly with the community. Participating in blood donation helps me understand that everyone can contribute to society through very practical actions.”
During the 2 days, the program was organized in a serious and scientific manner, ensuring full compliance with the procedures of screening examinations, health consultations, blood collection, and post-donation care. Thanks to the close coordination among the organizing units, the professional support of the Ho Chi Minh City Humanitarian Blood Donation Center, and the active response of the participants, the program collected more than 500 blood units, contributing to the blood supply for emergencies and treatment at healthcare facilities.

With the educational philosophy of linking training with practice and social responsibility, Nguyen Tat Thanh University always encourages students to participate in community activities, volunteering, humanitarian blood donation, environmental protection, supporting disadvantaged people, and other social service programs. These activities not only contribute to building the image of active, compassionate, and responsible NTTU students but also demonstrate the University’s role in training a human resource with expertise, professional ethics, and a spirit of dedication.
The 2nd “Red Volunteer Day” program for the 2025–2026 academic year closed with many beautiful impressions, spreading the message “each drop of blood given – a life stays”. This is also a testament to the spirit of solidarity, sharing, and community responsibility of the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group – Trade Union – Association, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, and accompanying units in the journey of joining hands for community health.
